SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Our workshop for secondary schools invites students to create a large group mandala. The emphasis is on introducing students to process based art. This experience is a good method for teens with high energy and active minds to settle into themselves.
Workshop Topics:-
- Introduction to mandala
- Compass Work
- Mindfulness meditation
- Task Completion
- Stress Reduction
- Impermanence
This workshop has proved to be a great success both with students and teachers.
Solas Art were invited to contribute to the Sanctuary for Schools program. This is an extensive 10 week program designed to nurture the inner skills of students to help them handle their problems in creative ways. Run by Niamh Bruce and Br. Richard of the Sanctuary in Stanhope street, a wide range of worldviews and various meditative techniques are shared with the students. Solas art created a large mandala at the sanctuary as part of this programme.
The materials Dean uses are beautiful. As a facilitator, Dean's calmness, gentleness and strength had a ripple affect among the students and we are looking forward to him returning to the Sanctuary in May 2009"

PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Solas art have created a workshop especially designed around the visual arts curriculum for primary schools in Ireland.
This workshop introduces children to:-
- Shape
- Colour and Tone
- Texture
- Form
- Pattern and Rhythm
- Spatial Organisation
We can design workshops to specific requirements to meet the needs of different schools.
Through the construction of one large mandala the children are encouraged to explore the possibilities of colour, texture, form etc. This experience results in a large completed piece of work and an atmosphere that is both creative and fun!
“The process of making is as valuable as the final product. The emphasis is on exploring and experimenting with the expressive possibilities of different materials, tools and media and with the choices they offer for different tasks”
