Breath

It seems unusual at first to cite breath as an influence for constructing mandalas. The truth is nearly everything solas art do can be boiled down to this magical and mysterious process.

There is an analogy between the way breathing has both a voluntary and involuntary component and how our work is partly driven by us and partly facilitated to manifest by itself.

There is rarely a mandala created where our awarness does not attach itself to the breath. We don’t fully understand how but this process of conscious breathing regularly arises when we create.

It is as if the breath has some messenger inside it. It takes us out of our thinking mind and has a deeply calming effect.

Our experience of the breath and mandala has encouraged us to discover some of the ancient uses of the breath for healing and spiritual experience as well as a modern therapeutic tool.
